This law is as good as the police who enforce it. To some it is just more paperwork.

The cost of enforcing the law with the current penalty structure must make it prohibitively expensive since the law is not enforced. I guess raising the reimbursement to the issuing entity (they get a percentage of the fines collected) will make it profitable.

Talking while driving = distraction = ticket = money to the state

Searching your iPod for a song while driving = not a distraction

    Eating/Drinking while driving = not a distraction

I think states have passed another law by our noses that they see we accept and they can make money from. And somehow we AGREE with them. Maybe one day the sheep will wake up.

You missed something. According to the law, talking is not distracting. Just talking while holding the phone. Talking after paying for a ‘hands free’ device is not distracting (according to the state).

Therefore, applying your mascara while sipping your Starbucks (since you have two hands free) while talking on your bluetooth headset, you’re in the clear in the Garden State.

Thank goodness, would hate to think I could get stopped searching my iPhone for my fav Lady Gaga site while applying lipstick drinking my latte. May ruin my trip to work.
