Sometimes I cannot believe what people try to sue for.

here’s the problem i have with this whole ordeal, granted they settled for less than what she was asking for (at least what the lawyer was expecting).

before you know it, cases like these will be allowed to sue anyone for anything and get away with it just because they have pockets to get money from. it should finaly put the burden on the plaintiff to show cause and if failed – pay all expenses including the defense’s bills, like the lawyer. for example the amount you were asking for and that the lawyer’s take would actually be given to the defense lawyer. why should anyone be responsible for your actions 100% of the time? should the university have a guard to walk with you everytime you step away from the door to goto your classroom? are you going to sue if you happen to step into the bad part of town and things go wrong? i think we need to stop and think about the situations you are in. in this case, she should be seeking damages from the person that raped her. the university is not at fault and nor is the state or even the city that the university is located in. granted a crime like this can make you wary of places you walk, but you can’t have a walking policeman with you 100% of the time!
