Oh, and I bet you $100 he didn’t run back into the building to try to save people. I bet he earned the medal fraudulently too. What an embarrassment to the Navy.
I am on the other side of the fence on this one. Time and again overzealous prosecutors bring otherwise hardworking, successful, honest individuals up for trial. I am not so sure he is guilty. Look at his record. I don’t beleive he had a motive for all of this and I question the prosecutor. Maybe she should be put on trial. We need to watch them and make sure they do not get more power then they are capable of handling. And the jurors are easily swayed by crafty, educated prosecutors. There are two sides to every story. Look at the conviceted murderers who have been cleared many years later by DNA evidence. I am not convinced here.
@ Susan: Amen. Tell that to the corrupt insurance commissioner in Delaware who’s working over insurers for her pound of flesh before they can get anything done.
@ Susan: Tell that to the corrupt insurance commissioner in Delaware with no education and no work history. What the naval officer got paid is chump change compared to the “incentives” she “suggests” insurers pay to get her to do anything on their agenda.
What a sad way to dishonor our military heroes. He was trust-worthy enough for a top-secret security clearance and to command nuclear submarines, but is going to lie about being in pain? No wonder it took so many trials to convict him; some attorney’s forum shop, this one had to jury shop.
“Coughlin’s claim said he was in constant pain after being injured twice on Sept. 11, 2001 — first when objects fell on him when a hijacked plane struck the building and later when he went back inside to rescue others and hit his head”
BUT he ran a marathon — 26.2 miles, 2 months later. AND, he played Lacross, which is a very physical sport. He’s a liar….and he lied because he is GREEDY…bottom line!
@Insurancelady – you don’t think he’s guilty or believe he had a motive???? What about the $330k he got? LOL. I bet he wishes you were on his jury.
I am SO sick of these greedy-ass people. If you didn’t earn it, you are NOT entitled to it.

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!” You’re bound to get a group that will agree with you sooner or later.
Motive?! How about the $331,034 dollars he received.

@Susan – Maybe I wish I had been as well!!! Don’t always believe what you read – some folks are easily swayed.
