Meaningful insurance reform will help lower the cost for the consumer. We also need to change public attitude about insurance fraud.

Is this a state specific problem or national?

It is a national problem and especially an issue in the Northeast-Midatlantic States. This area has been a problem for many years and the consumer has shouldered the financial burden.

insurance fraud you say? whens the last time you saw a so called ‘independent’ medical examiner hired by the carrier diagnose a claimant with a serious, permanent injury? think about how much the carriers can save by paying a claim when they should.

Hi Rich, yes… you are definately right…. Insurance companies are famous at finding doctors that are “shills” to write favorable reports for the carrier to get out of a claim or paying benefits. This practice needs to stop as well.

There are two sides to every coin and there are “claimant” doctors too.

Exactly what type of fraud was committed? The story doesn’t mention ant theft, etc. by the doctor.

Allstate should look in their own backyard regarding fraud. They are not so kosher on their No fault claims and people in the business know this for a fact.
