Am I missing something here? A Chinese company can sue an American citizen for defamation, but an American citizen can not sue a Chinese company for a product defect?
The key is jurisdiction. The Chinese company is suing in an American court. Unless the American blogger happened to be in China, the company could not sue him/her in a Chinese court. Let’s say you want to sue a Chinese company, which has no presence or operations within the US, in an American court, how exactly do you go about getting them to actually show up? Or pay, if damages are ordered?
