Having had a dog sit on the gas pedal, I can appreciate the use of a crate and/or seatbelt for small canines. I doubt felines are going to cooperate, so they may have to stay home.
I’ll pay the $20.00. AND 40% do not want seat belts for dogs; 40% of those polled, owners of a pet or NOT , said its okay to have a seat belt law. Do you know how difficult it is to seat belt a DOG! This law is absolutely the NANNY STATE gone wild!
Another Nanny State issue. Those of us who value our dogs will do what we can to protect them, but dogs will not cooperate being restrained by a belt of any kind and keeping a dog in a crate during travel can be pretty confining unless one stops frequently to let them exercise. It sounds more like another revenue source for politicians who want to pick our pockets dry for their re-election projects and giveaways while they overspend and mismanage what we already send them. In the end, there are many more important issues for politicians to act upon than diversions like this.
The minimal poll of some 900 people makes it useless to anyone who has ever engaged in polling on any subject, or has ever conducted any sort of survey.
And 45% to 40% isn;t exactly a runaway sucess for those who are pushing this nanny-state stupidity. And Ms. Spencer and Fairleigh Dickinson, should look for some real problems that need solving. They should both find dozens in Newark and the surrounding areas.
Who did they poll, the local branch of PETA? Nobody in their right mind could support this stupidity. Guess what folks, the more inconvenient and costly the governmorons make it to own a dog, the fewer families will want to put up with the nonsense. That means FEWER dogs will be rescued/adopted and MORE dogs will be killed in shelters each day! If you want to save dogs’ lives, then make dog ownership as easy as possible — DUH!
PS: I have had dogs all my life and never had an issue with them in the car. I currently have a rescue dog that I adopted a few months ago and, if this law was in place, I would have really had to think about my decision.
My gorilla is fine with this, but the tiger keeps chewing through the straps. I guess I will have to pay the $20.
You just TRY and get that darned thing ’round me, sucker. Go for it. See how far it gets ya.

Polling 901 people in New Jersey? ! When there’s nine million people here, THE POLL IS WORTHLESS! It was made to back up a whacko politicians desires!

All you really have to do is secure your dog to the roof of the car!
I will have to move the kids inside. And I’m NOT gonna do it!!!

Never trust a poll that thinks 45% is a majority!!
