FRAUD is what this is…. had this been proven to be a Public adjuster doing this… the person in charge of the company woud have been arrested, dragged through the mud, and thrown in jail for 20+ years.

But hey… what the hell… lets slap the wrist of the Hartford… after all…. this fine is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the money they saved and millions they made!

How could Hartford be guilty of this? Aren’t they endorsed by AARP.

If only everyone sold value and was not pressured into thinking “I have to lower the price” every time a person inquires about insurance. Let’s all try this for a bit. Don’t race around to find a lower price but emphasize the value in what you are selling and what you would want if you were selling the product to yourself. Always remember there are 100 pennies in a dollar. The more you get the less someone else gets.

IT BRINGS SHAME ON THE INDUSTRY WHEN A BAD APPLE TRIES TO INCREASE PROFITS THROUGH HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE PRACTICES. THE CLAIMS PEOPLE INVOLVED OBVIOUSLY NOT UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLES OF INSURANCE. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF EACH CLAIM IS FIGURED INTO THE FUTURE PREMIUMS LEVELS. IF THE PREMIUMS ARE HIGHER THAN THE COMPETITION THAT IS AN UNDERWRITING PROBLEM AS THEIR GUIDELINES ARE TOO LOOSE. THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT IS NOT A PROFIT CENTER BUT MUST BE EFFICIENT TO BOTH PAY CLAIMS PROPERLY AND RETAIN CLIENTS. EVEN CLAIMANTS CAN BE IMPRESSED BY HOW A CLAIM IS HANDLED AND MAY WISH TO CHANGE CARRIERS.

what kind of mickey mouse insurance company are they running? How come they let the estimators determine the labor rate they are going to pay?? Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard.

Adjusters don’t set the rates. The Carrier tells them what the “prevailing rate” that they will pay is. That doesn’t allow for a shop to charge more if he is in a higher COL area or he is a more well equipped shop. If better equipment gets the job done in less time someone still has to pay the added cost of the new equipment. Years ago, there were a couple of carrier run body shops in MA. They eventually closed them because they lost too much money.

You know it was some bean counter that came up with this idea and probably got an ungodly bonus for it. The idiots who only see $ signs do not have to look the clients in the eyes and try to explain things and smooth things over when crap like this happens. It isn’t their reputations and business on the line. They will pay the fine and go about business as usual. Meanwhile the agents who have sold the policies will be losing customers and struggling to replace that commission.

RIGHT NOW, I AM HAVING A PROBLEM GETTING HARTFORD TO PAY FOR MY CAR RENTAL, WHILE MY AUTO WAS IN THE SHOP. THEY ARE CLAIMING THAT THEY KNOW WHEN THE AUTO REPAIR WORKERS ARE WORKING, AND THAT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WORK ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, MY CAR RENTAL SHOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THEM ON THOSE DAYS!

KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOME HELP?

I am having problem with the Hartford insurance too. They refused to pay for the damage in my business due to a burst pipe. Instead of having someone to come out and check the damage, they want me to have all receipts that was done 5 years ago. I do not have those receipts at the moment, and now they are refusing to pay for the damage. It’s sad to see big companies bullied small business and the common people, only because they have more money and bigger lawyer. But I’ll tell you karma is going to bite them all where it hurts the most! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE HARFORD INSURANCE. The never hold up their end of the bargain.
