“The bill also states that any motorist using an electronic device to provide proof of insurance shall assume any and all liability for any damage sustained to the mobile electronic device.”
Wait, what!?! So if you give your device to an officer to view insurance info and the officer accidentally (or intentionally) drops it into water or cracks/damages/breaks the phone in any way, the owner is responsible?
Imagine an irate driver verbally abusing the officer in some way, handing over the phone for insurance verification, and the officer “accidentally” damaging the device. Petty? Sure. Unlikely? Sure…but still….he who breaks it should buy it.
