When regulated taxicab permits are issues, or transferred, or operated – local municipalities get so needed revenue. When uber cars are operated, uber takes the same exact cut, but this time it is being privatized by uber billionaire owners with local municipalities, and local communities getting a pittance of it.
The is just one example of why so widely promoted (advertised) so called “ride-sharing” is an unfair, and in many cases unlawful, “business” model.

I totally agree with Sam! This venture money backed group, which is trying to go public as fast as they can, are pulling the wool over the general public. Regular taxi drivers must pass a physical, a drug test, a criminal background check. Regular taxi drivers (in my city) must take and pass the standard CPR course. The taxis must be inspected twice a week for cleanliness and safety. The drivers must pay for the certificate to drive (money for the city). They also must pay (and a lot – $200 a certificate) to deliver and/or pick up at the airport or the military bases. When a big event is going on in a city, Uber messages its drivers to CHARGE HIGHER RATES – which taxi drivers cannot do! I have no use for Uber. If a passenger feels uncomfortable in a taxi, they can call the company and dispatch will immediately assist them. If a passenger feels uncomfortable in an Uber car, I guess they can post it on Facebook… and Uber is WATCHING you – tracking your trips, etc.
