The final comment is a tellng one. When anyone in Mr. Bechtel’s position starts citing “shared responsibility”, I find it hard not to interpret that as pushing the cost on to the consumer. Everyone, especially high paid medical specialists who generate a preponderance of these bills, seem to be unequivocal in wanting their share of the patient’s income. Services should be paid for fairly, yes, but should not be financially threatening to any individual or family.

If the hospital is “in-network” then all who provide services there should be deemed “in-network” as well. If the hospital gives a particular doctor privileges, the hospital should have said doctor stipulate that he/she will accept all plans accepted by the hospital. If they refuse, then they don’t have privileges at that hospital.

I had to take my wife to an in network hospital for an injury due to a fall. They called in a surgeon who was not in network with the plan and he was force to take in network benefits.

It seems that those job-killing, socialistic, anti-free-market rules and regulations helped you out. Welcome aboard, Comrade Agent.
