Just like the McDonald’s hot coffee episode, I guess we need to reprogram the GPS to say “Turn around only when it is safe to do so”. Otherwise, people won’t use common sense.
Do you know anything about the McDonald’s hot coffee incident? How about you start by looking up pictures of the burns and then come back here and argue the company was not grossly negligent. Or, go read about the 8 days of skin grafting the woman had to endure while staying in the hospital, or the partial disability she had for 2 years after the incident. Or, imagine what would have happened had she actually put the coffee that burned almost 20% of her body into her mouth/throat. Oh, and McDonald’s required stores to hold coffee at a temperature that would cause 3rd degree burns in 2-7 seconds, and had over 700 previous claims of coffee burning people, which they ignored.
I wasn’t being unkind with regards to the person who got burned. Just trying to make a point that coffee is hot, ovens burn and dogs bite. People just need to use a little more common sense and take responsibilty for their actions. We live in a “It’s not my fault and I didn’t do anything wrong so I’m going to sue somebody” society. Thank you for your input, UW. I hope you have a better day today.
So don’t address the case you brought up and I responded to. The judge and a jury of 12 people all found that McDonalds should be held liable and punished for not taking responsibility for their actions after more than 500 accidents resulting in severe burns, and selling for profit a product that can seriously harm people, even when used properly. Your actual argument is to leave companies alone.
Wires attached to a pole at an angle that help support it. By the way, my GPS always says “recalculating” if I don’t take the right turn, not “turn around immediately”. People really don’t have any common sense anymore.
thanks truthspeaker – didn’t know guy-wires were a thing as i’ve always heard them referred to as guide-wires. thanks for the link!

truthspeaker, the young troll likes to pop off a lot. He has already proven he doesn’t know how to Google when I had to give him simple instructions 3 times in a prior article.

Confused…I’m with you. I have never heard of “guy” wires before. Only “guide” wires.
Truthspeaker: Thanks for providing details on the alternative. I have been enlightened!
These wires are certainly sexist. What happened to the gal wires?
I will need to be careful to be precise when I tell my GPS something.

In Agent’s day, they called them broad wires. “Hey, did you get a look at those broad wires?”

Can’t imagine anyone reacting to a GPS like that. Mine would never abruptly tell me to “turn around”. Even if it did I wouldn’t try to turn around abruptly. Gee.
integrity, can we look forward to a suit by this driver against the GPS manufacturer for giving bad instructions? How did this 30 year old woman ever pass her driving test?
Wish someone would have gotten a video of this one. Would have love to have seen it. Glad no one was hurt.

poor reading comprehension for the loss! GUY wires are nothing. GUIDE wires are a thing. Pretty sure Christy knew that

Can’t imagine this? Michael Scott did this in Scranton several years ago when he drove into a lake.
And here is the picture folks.

Thanks, Plymn! That’s some impressive driving. perfectly balanced! I don’t know how the car didn’t roll off.

That yellow wrapping around the cable in the pic is for visibility.
