This is stupid. I cannot believe they would even force the hospital to grant religious exemptions for flu shots. Why?…BECAUSE IT’S A FREAK’N HOSPITAL FULL OF SICK PEOPLE. I don’t understand how they could even risk letting them work with a mask as long as they have a note from clergy (like a note somehow makes it safer). Let alone claim the hospital did anything wrong by firing those who wouldn’t even get a note. Arrogant, self-righteous jerks who don’t give a damn about anyones rights but their own. This stuff makes me ashamed to be liberal sometimes…

There are PEOPLE everywhere. Under that philosophy, the govt could force us to do whatever they want if it saves even one person (their usual rant).

The shot is to keep YOU from getting the flu. Why don’t those sick people get the shot?

Generally, one doesn’t need a lot of extra reasons to be ashamed to be a liberal.

Yes Wayne, liberals have a lot to be ashamed about, particularly in the last 8 years and the passage of the worst piece of legislation in the history of the country.

I disagree. The Flu shot has been proven to be very ineffective because of all of the many variations and mutations of the flu bug. Add to that some very serious possible side effects and I can see why many hospital employees are refusing it. Forget the religious belief requirement, it should be for any personal belief. Also, think of the hundreds of men, women and children visitors that come inside a hospital daily. Are these people refused entrance because they have not received the flu shot? Are these visitors all forced to wear masks even though they show no signs of illness? No. So why pick on the employees.
I know a nurse here in my state that refuses to get the shot and has to not only wear a mask but also wear a colored tag letting everyone know she has not received the flu shot. She says she is ridiculed and scorned by other nurses and doctors because they know of her refusal. I believe the requirement of wearing a mask and color tag is a violation of the HIPAA laws because the hospital is releasing private personal health information to the public and to other hospital employees without her consent.

There are religions, such as Christian Science, that do not believe in doctors or medicine. They believe God will heal them if they so deserve. Flu shots are as effective that we are led to believe. So if they get the flu, they will stay home just like the rest of us. Mr Opinion, you have a choice on whether to get a flu shot, so why can’t others?

Oops, Flu shots are NOT as effective as we are led to believe.

Healthcare professionals should be inoculated for flu and many other diseases because they are treating sick people and don’t need to expose them to it. If they don’t want to do it, find another profession.

Flu shots are absolutely important for people who work around sick people.

It’s not to protect the person getting the shot, it’s to protect the general population of that area from spreading it further.

Let me start by stating that I get a flu shot every year on the advice of my doctor. That said I have still gotten the flu even with the shot, so I am living proof that it is not 100% effective. Unfortunately in the real world there are germs that get spread, if I thought for a moment that requiring all health care workers to get the shot would make everyone safe from the flu I would be on board in a minute.

Funny, I never had a shot and I haven’t had the flu in 30 years. Guess my body is doing what it’s supposed to.
