Texting while driving is lawless as is causing someone’s death.
Might be a better world if people followed the rules instead of figuring out how to get away with causing a tragedy.
No one disputes that laws banning texting while driving be enforced to save lives. What I take serious offense to is the laziness of the current legal system. If the cops can’t catch someone breaking the law, let’s just circumvent the constitution and allow searches without probable cause. “Please Mr Government, take away my rights to make me feel safer. Trample on our constitution please because we’re all too scared to deserve the rights people DIED to obtain and defend.” Disgusting. Prosecute people who text and drive. Don’t give law enforcement a short-cut around the whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing. It’s kinda important. The entire philosophy of “implied consent” in this or anything else, it’s just rationalizing unconstitutional actions. Next we’ll have buildings and communities asking us to sign waiver allowing police to come into our homes whenever they want. And if you don’t want to sign, just live somewhere else. Anything to make us feel safer right? Fascist BS.
Perhaps if people realized the cops could put the Textalizer on their phone, they would stop texting while driving. It is kind of like being “scared straight” by having them visit jails and having convicts tell them what could happen to them.
