I can certainly understand a trucker making a mistake and being over 5 or 10K pounds but 560,000 pounds come on someone was trying to get away with not pulling proper permits to avoid cost. I think the fine is way to light based upon the potential damage that this load could have caused. How many bridges anywhere are rated for 280 tons?

what does the permit cost? why do they need one? Did it continue the trip without changing the load. Tom
