Brace to Join Catlin as Group Claims Director

By | November 26, 2012

The Bermuda-based Catlin Group Limited announced that Glenn Brace will join Catlin in early 2013 as Group Claims Director. He will be responsible for Catlin’s worldwide claims operations, including the claims functions of all six of the Group’s underwriting hubs.

Brace will be based in London and succeeds Nick Sinfield, who was previously promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Catlin’s London/UK underwriting hub. He will report to Paul Jardine, Chief Operating Officer of Catlin Group Limited.

Brace has served as Executive Director of Xchanging Claims Services in London since February 2011. Xchanging Claims Services provides claims adjusting and other services to Lloyd’s of London managing agents and other companies in the London insurance market.

He joined Equitas Limited, the company established to reinsure and run off Lloyd’s pre-1993 liabilities, in 1997 as Head of Asbestos, Pollution and Health Hazard (‘APH’) Claims. He was subsequently promoted to Claims Director, serving as Equitas’ chief claims officer.

“In 2007, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. effectively acquired Equitas’ operations, and Glenn was appointed Chief Claims Officer of Resolute Management Services Ltd, the Berkshire Hathaway unit that assumed the run-off of Equitas’ business,” Catlin noted. “He left Resolute in 2010 to establish Tower Street Consulting, an independent company that provided claims and liability consulting services to insurers in the London market.”

Brace began his career at the US law firm Day, Berry & Howard (now Day Pitney) where he was a Partner. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Law School.

Jardine noted that Brace has “distinguished himself as one of the world’s top claims professionals, making a significant contribution to the ultimate success of Equitas and, most recently, serving as Executive Director of Xchanging Claims Services.”
