    When I see hyper successful people take this drastic action, it makes me step back and think that I need more balance in my life.

    He probably worked extremely hard to get to his position and apparently the company’s recent financial results were negative. Even if he were to be fired, his career has been a success. He would still have the ability to contribute and be successful even if it were a less prestigious job or company. He could still enjoy his family, activities and retirement in the future.
