Cooper Gay in London has appointed Charles Gibbs as managing director of marine, within the firm’s marine and aerospace division.
Gibbs will have overall responsibility for the company’s marine hull business, leading Cooper Gay’s initiative to develop the marine retail element of its business alongside and to complement its existing wholesale and facultative reinsurance offering.
He brings 30 years of experience to Cooper Gay and joins from Marsh, where he was managing director of the global marine practice, and previously Sedgwick. He will report to Steve Barton, chief executive of marine and aerospace.
“Whilst we will not compete with existing distribution channels, there are large parts of the world where a more retail focus is appropriate for growing our business and Charles will be integral to that goal,” said Barton.
