“Classroom misbehavior and disruptions deprive students of their state constitutional right to a public education, and that’s the greater risk to Indiana’s future.”
umm…. so where does it say that one individual can provide a disruptive environment and cause undo education for those kids that behave? if they are being sued for removal a bad kid, then the school, city and state should be acting in good faith and say SORRY. but it’s unfair to the other children to learn because you child does not want to behave. if we allow kids to be undisciplined, how will they act when they get older? it should not have taken a law/legislation to protect our teachers. my teaches and i know and hear the stories of disruptive kids.
I agree with the goal of protecting teachers from silly lawsuits due to trying to maintain order in the classroom. However, I hope this doesn’t inadvertently trample on students protection from wayward school policies. In the last 10 years some school districts have gone way too far with their zero tolerance policies, and this statute appears to protect teachers who attempt to enforce the faulty “zero intelligence” policies. I hope the school district is granted immunity under this statute. I tried to read it but the legalese gave me a headache . . .
Add a provision that if the suit is proved to be frivilous, the Pf will be charged all attorneys fees plus a minimum restitution to be split between the teacher and the state. That should be an education for some people.
Great point. Too many idiots bastardize the legal system with frivolous suits because they think they have nothing to lose. There should be a consequence when you take a shot at someone and miss. Maybe then those idiots will think twice.

Why can’t we do the same for the people we turn to when we are sick or injured?
Maybe other states will follow suit.
