    My anecdotal reasons:

    1. Cell phones.
Inattentive drivers and inattentive pedestrians are both to blame. I regularly see pedestrians crossing intersections with their face in their phone, even stopping to type something while still in the crosswalk. That important message/emoji can wait until you’ve reached the other side.

    2. Electric vehicles.
They can be so quiet. I’ve seen people out for a walk in a neighborhood step into an electric vehicle’s path because they just don’t hear it coming.

The article conveys the solution well when it states that both drivers and pedestrians need to be more aware of their surroundings.

Fair, I finally agree with you on something. Shocker. However, electric vehicles being quiet is no excuse for a pedestrian not checking the street before starting across. It is just stupid.

Based on the vast majority of opinions you have expressed on this site I take it as a profound compliment to hear we rarely agree. :o)

Re-read my post above, though. I didn’t excuse anything when it came to electric vehicles, though I did list them as a reason, and an anecdotal one at that. It’s as though you look for any opportunity to spew invective.

I did re-read and I stand by my comment that there is no excuse for a person not to check the street before trying to cross it in case a quiet car is coming. By the way, there are a lot of quiet cars which are gasoline powered. You have to be aware of them also.

Except you left off the word “however” this time. Look up the definition of the word.

I tried to give you a break Fair, but you just couldn’t resist being arrogant and condescending in your reply. That is a very bad trait to have, but I am used to it on this forum.
