As usual, liberals skip right over the question of “why” legalize and head right to the lying:
Here is a legalization advocate as quoted in the article:
“You see some decreases among youth because you’re cutting off their access. The guy slinging weed on the corner in my neighborhood, I’ve never seen him `card,’ not once,” Cassidy said. “And you see slight increase in people over 50 because their knees hurt.”
You see! ALL GOOD! Except that his statement is contradicted by studies in Colorado that show pot use by people as young as 12 years old is now up to the 3rd highest of any state in the USA. And who would be surprised? The black market in California is expanding after legalization, meaning the opposite of “cutting off access” is happening.
Maybe every fan of legalization has brain damage from THC. (Or maybe all just liars.)
The Police are opposed to this because if you stop arresting people for petty non-violent and victimless crimes like pot they have to go after real criminals and also it potentially affects the department funding and their job security.
In regards to their fears about unregistered home grows, guess what there are already unregistered home grows, how will legalizing have any affect on that? People who are gonna grow weed are gonna grow it regardless of what the laws are and in many cases they are more likely to grow it when they can’t easily access it on their own.
As for kids using pot, when I was in high school we used to go “garage hopping” stealing beer out of garages because it was too hard to buy beer, however I had no problem buying pot because like the article sort of illudes to, actual businesses card, weed dealers don’t.
Because for the last 2 years they had crystal balls and saw this coming? Is that the correlation you are attempting to make? People are leaving because of this legislation? It will be this legislation that brings people, including businesses who wish to play in the MJ market, to the state. We all know they left because of taxation, not because of MJ legalization. Thanks for trying out, Agent.
What? NOW we learn that pot increases rates of violence, especially domestic violence.

Run and hide Pot Fans. Truth is hard to swallow. (Maybe we are going to learn that pot isn’t less harmful than alcohol after all. If only the damn Feds. would allow some real research, right Pot Fans?)
The “truth” that you are referring to is no more proof than statements made by pro-cannabis individuals. You make a good point but UNTIL we reach federal intervention and de-decriminalization, these conclusions are really just speculated results based on inflated and skewed data.
Cannabis is ILLEGAL federally, so how are you gonna trust FEDERAL data like its accurate… get your shit together CRAIG
How about Mother Jones? Think they are pro-cannabis or anit? Think they got their “shit” together genius? Here is what they say:
Over the past couple of decades, studies around the globe have found that THC—the active compound in cannabis—is strongly linked to psychosis, schizophrenia, and violence. Berenson interviewed far-flung researchers who have quietly but methodically documented the effects of THC on serious mental illness, and he makes a convincing case that a recreational drug marketed as an all-around health product may, in fact, be really dangerous—especially for people with a family history of mental illness and for adolescents with developing brains.
Who cares if Mother Jones is for or against MJ? Why does that matter?

There has been quite a bit of research and development in the cannabis industry, mostly overseas. The amount of active ingredients, including THC, can be manipulated according to what is needed and desired. I am one of those sore knees folks; I am using cbds now and can’t wait to have more choices.

Hey Craig,
Great point about the detrimental effects of cannabis on the developing brain of the adolescent, but this doesn’t apply to adults.
It is true that cannabis use in teenagers is associated with later onset of mental illnesses like bipolar disorder and psychosis. Consequently, it is imperative we keep cannabis out of the hands of teenagers, whose maturing prefrontal cortexes are vulnerable to chemical substances. Excellent point.
That said, Adults are safe from all long-term effects of cannabis consumption. In fact, virtually all risk of mental disorders as a result of cannabis vanishes once the prefrontal cortex reaches full maturity. Adults may consume marijuana with little to no long-term
effects. It is a safe drug for recreational and medicinal purposes.

Anyone wonder why Illinois leads the country in people fleeing their state?

Love the Down Votes from people who don’t believe in learning new things, people who don’t believe in facts.
