If the oceans are rising why are is the level of lake michigan at a 50 year low? Is the water disappearing and reappearing in the Atlantic?

If the earth is warming why did I have snow on my lawn last week?

What happened to the global ice age that was predicted in the 1970\’s?

And what happened to Ted Danson\’s statement in the 80\’s that the earth had less than a decade left?

It\’s getting warmer & then colder & then warmer & then colder & then….. I\’m not real sure what it will do next, but the weather man said it\’s going to be heating up this week again in Texas! But we too had some really cold temps for April…

It\’s snowing in PA as I type!

What ended the last two Ice Ages?

This is totally irresponsible of IJ to allow the Corp to get blamed for Katrina\’s damage. Maybe there\’s just no way that a city built below sea level can be run by democrats and not end up a disaster eventually, one way or another.

Al Gore told them it was global warming. However in South Florida this morning it was 60 degrees when I left for work at 8:15.

Maybe they should admit that the projects done many years ago are not up to the standards of the world we live in today, either because of poor planning when they were done, or better technology today, but instead of blaming global warming for the failure of projects, investigate the completed projects & review every couple years to make sure it will still provide the protection of whatever it\’s purpose was originally intended.
I hear the temps are on the rise this week, but we will get a cooling trend towards the weekend!

Yeah, and right under this articl was an ad for a book about Nostradamus. How fitting!

Al Gore is chairman of a company that sells \”carbon credits,\” the same company from which he purchases them as indulgences for burning twenty times the national average in kilowatt hours to run just ONE of his spreads.

    UFOs… Bermuda Triangle… global warming… lions… tigers… bears… oh my!

The Global Warming epedemic has finally hit here in Texas!! Protect yourselves because it\’s worse than anybody predicted. 200 plus degrees temps and climbing. Gore WAS right! It\’s hotter than Hades over here.

Didn\’t Nelly write a song about this? Yeah, baby!! Let\’s ROCK!

Okay, what Al Gore really needs to promote is a time machine. If only we had a time machine, we could go back millions of years and STOP the horrendous melting of the ice burgs. I mean, look how horrible everyone\’s life is now since the planet is not frozen. People can actually walk around outside without dying. What a tragedy this has become.

We must learn to control nature since we created it. We are not creations of nature and therefore we are in charge of it. Wait… hmmm. Could that be flawed logic? Perhaps.

Well, here\’s another idea. Let\’s have the Federal government be responsible for everyone\’s retirement benefits! That is genius! That seems to be working out well.

    Grow up Gore.

    Two things:

The Corps wanted to build stronger levees several years ago, but were stopped by a court ruling requested by environmentalists.

Score one for the environmentalists – they caused Katrina damage!

Global warming – the earth has gone through several warming and cooling trends, we are on the upswing of a natural cycle that repeats every 140,000 or so years. Check it out for the last 400,000 years. The range of average temperatures over this period is about 6 or 7 degrees centigrade. We are currently about two degrees cooler than the average high over a 400,000 year period.

    Score one for the scientists.

Score for Al Gore – 0!

Wasn\’t New Orleans around for at least a couple years before the Army Corp of Engineers? Don\’t know, but it just seems hard to blame them for failure in their attempt to protect what was placed in harms way more than 100 years earlier!

Perhaps the corp can develop time travel technology, and travel back in time to warn the stupid people who built a city below sea level that it\’s not a good idea to do so when you\’re so close to the SEA!

Doubtful they\’d listen, but it would make for an interesting short film subject.

great point, Ray…the Environmental Defense and the National Wildlife Federation, aren\’t these the same folks who are against almost any kind of levee building in regards to rivers, damming of streams, etc?

So, if we want to build a levy, they\’ll fight us in court, and then after the old one fails, they\’ll criticize our efforts with their PR guys.

Can I donate a couple carbon credits to this worthy organization?

During Earth\’s life there were 6 ice ages. We are still coming out of the last one. Politicians will piggy back onto any issue so tax money will flow their way.

If CO2 is the culprit how do they expect us to do anything about it when humans contribute only 4% of the total CO2?

Stop exhaling C02, you selfish breather. But I guess you won\’t do that because \”A zebra does not change its spots.\” – Al Gore, The Toronto Sun, 11/19/95.

Do men and women exhale equal amounts of C02, Mr. Gore?

No wonder no one take insurance agents seriously anymore… read these posts and you see how simple minded insurance people have become. Once we were respected as thinking people now all we do is bash democrats! Check out Japan and other areas to see how technology works…we are too corrupt as a country to pull together to fix anything… if there is no gov\’t hand out then we don\’t want to help… poor poor pitiful agents!

Would that person please find me a link showing rising ocean levels?

Would they also find which groups blocked levee building along the Mississippi and which groups published the paper referenced in the article?

The water wouldn\’t rise if the iceburgs all melted. Whoever is claiming that doesn\’t know basic science. Take a bowl, put some ice cubes in it and then fill it with water to the rim. Wait a couple of hours and see if it overflows once all the ice cubes melt.

Okay, B, now take a bundt cake pan, fill it full of water and balance some ice cubes on the spire in the center — Now you have the ice sheets over Antarctica and Greenland. Watch what happens to your water level as those melt.

Two South Pacific islands have disappeared beneath the waves, as climate change raises sea levels to new heights.

They are Tebua Tarawa and Abanuea – which ironically means \”the beach which is long-lasting\” – in the island state of Kiribati.

Neither island was inhabited, though Tebua Tarawa was used by fishermen.

    Swamped by the sea

The news is reported in the Independent on Sunday newspaper, which says predictions of the danger are coming true more quickly than anyone had expected.

The South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) says other islands are at risk, both in Kiribati and in nearby Tuvalu.

It says most of the coastline of the 29 atolls of the Marshall Islands is suffering erosion.

On one, second world war graves are being washed away.

Algore will be troubled by this story; missing graves implies there will be fewer dead people to register votes for him or his party.

egads; he\’s going to have to convince the living…guess that\’s why he\’s trying to scare us to DEATH!

Since 1922, sea levels have risen about 10 inches. Considering that the average earth temperature has been increasing since the end of the last ice age about 18,000 years ago, this is not very had to understand.

The current rate of sea level rise is about 3mm (or .118 inches) a year. It is hard to imagine that an island has disappeared when the sea level rise was this small. Such an island would regularly disappear and reappear just based on normal tide heights.

More of the Al Gore based hysteria is upon us.

The year of the story is irrelavent. The context of the story and the facts state it is normal erosion and tide and storm surge. It also gave specific political reasons why someone would want to blame pollution or global warming. Did you miss that part? Calling people names and declaring yourself the almighty purveyor of facts does not make you nor I an expert. I like to deal with facts. It is difficult to debate when you will not give me facts. If it is so easy to predict what the climate will be, then I have a challenge for you. Give me the high tempature in your hometown for the next seven days. One degree off and you lose. Wanna bet?
