I’m not sure what Travelers’ is doing in other states but in MD our agency increased sales for 2007 including the 4th qtr.

In California, Travelers introduced the Quantum product for the homeowners market and the rates turned out higher. This hurt my production with them which stayed stagnant; however, a new filing has made the product once again very competitive and I am sure you will see a better 2008 for them. I love this company and fell very secure with them

Traveler’s – don’t get used to these good results….. The crud that you are writing isn’t going to keep producing good loss experience. My goodness, they will write anything and cheap !! Stuff that they’ve turned down for years, they’ll now “buy” on the street. It is too bad that this will be the downfall of a good company.

This company has been through far too many cyclical markets in its 150+ year history for me to worry. I am on the advisory council and hear the results on and annual basis from not only California but the company as a whole. Quantum is a product that charges for the additional expsoure and I fully very confident with this company. Either you don’t write for Travelers or you are clueless. This is one of the premier companies of our time and they will be here when you and I are DEAD AND FORGOTTEN

I think that the guy was simply pointing out that Traveler’s is flush with cash, but the business they are buying on the street – CHEAP – is going to take that 89 combined to a 109 quicker than you can say “where’s my umbrella?”. I saw an article about Traveler’s recently with a top dog claiming that they need underwriting discipline in this soft market. Yeah right!! Traveler’s exhibit underwriting discipline? Well, at least they are not as bad as Liberty Mutual.
