    Does anyone believe Best is a credible rating agency these days? Where are they getting their info from? Investment, catastrophic and underwriting losses are through the roof and AIG companies are still slashing prices left and right while dragging down the market even more than they already have. How does that translate into a stable market?

    Got to agree “what?”

    With the perfect storm of
    * record CAT losses,
    * Increasing Reinsurance Costs,
    * Inflated Claim expense costs,
    * 4 years in a row of eroding rates
    and
    * Unprofitable investments, how could any predict that the soft market will continue?

    What this is saying =

    the plain truth is that for all of the turmoil and several carriers posting 106, 108, 111 COR’s, there are many, many more that are making an underwriting profit. Many carriers are still running in the low 90’s and even the high 80’s.

    As a result, there isn’t going to be a lot of pressure to take rate in this market.

    Unless, of course, you are with one of those carriers that doesn’t know how to rate, price, or underwrite, and is stuck with a 110 combined.
