Dinallo is right on! If Gramm-Leach-Bliley hadn’t taken the insurance regulators’ ability to oversee the ENTIRE insurance operation, AIG would not be in this mess because the state regulators would have been checking AIG’s entire portfolio, not just the insurance operations, which are fine.
