This is exactly what the libs wanted. America has gotten bored with the healthcare debate and we’ve forgotten about it. Now they’re trying to ram it through again while we’re not looking.

If this will be good for Americans, then we must REQUIRE that our elected leaders join us and be insured in the SAME plan! Are they not “of the people, for the people”? Are they royalty? This “reform” will be put though and the public is not paying attention! Those that are, don’t want it!

On 10/8 the insurance journal posted an article with the above title.
Per the article, Quote -The report found that all of the states that have made healthcare reforms provide better access to medical treatment and prevention and mostly avoid costly hospital procedures.-

If the so-called healthcare reform (mors precisely a healthcare tax) bill is passed in some form that contains a tax on so-called “Cadillac” plans, just what will be considered “Cadillac” Like “excess profits”, by whom and how is that decided? Will the politicians (our “ruling class”) who undoubtedly have the “Cadillac of Cadillacs” plan have to pay that tax or will they exempt themselves? My guess is that they’ll treat it like they do Social Security – it applies to the masses, but not to them.
(Didn’t someone say something about eating cake – not bread – about 200 or so years ago?)

Notice that of late, there’s talk about the tax implication of the cost of such reform now dropping to families with $150,000 of income. Quite a difference from Obama’s campaign promise that no one making under $250,000 annually (or, at times, it was $200,000) would see a dime in increased taxes. Of course, the federal government can easily skirt tax increases by shoving the costs, in the form of unfunded mandates, onto the states who will then have to tax us to provide them. So, I guess what Obama really meant about not increasing middle-class taxes is that we won’t be paying them to the feds. (Tricky-tricky!)

Finally, how can he say that he won’t sign any bill that adds to the deficit when it is clear from virtually all estimates that healthcare reform will add to the deficit?

I can’t believe that our nation is being run (or is it “ruled”?) by these people.

They already voted to exempt themselves. They are currently exempt from any effect this bill may have on their current coverage.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard when I will get notified of my Tax credit that I am supposed to get next year, because I make less than $250,000. is it still going to come true? I mean I heard our president say that 95% of us were going to pay less taxes next year?
Has anyone heard when it is going to happen? I voted for him because of this “change” in tax for the middle class.

We are such idiots for following this community organizer. Hey wasnt Karl Marx a community organizer too.

You already got it. They adjusted the withholding tables so your employer withholds less from your paycheck. The trick is they didn’t adjust the liability tables so you still owe the same amount. Enjoy.

Every U.S. Senators, including Harry Reid, who are up for re-election and voted for this bill should be voted OUT come next election! They have not listened to the American people and frankly it’s obvious they don’t care what the American taxpayer thinks! So, from Obama to Reid to Pelosi to Snow they all must GO!

If your employer pays for your health insurance. YOU ARE TOAST! now, The plan will put groups out of business and employers off the hook for healthcare. Why do you think unions dont like the Baucus plan because it does not provide a public option. The public option gets anyone over 60K in income to pay for those that dont make 60K per family income. Redistribution of wealth.

Sam- I know you meant to insult me, but I thank you for the perspective. You are right to point out that for every stat, there can be a stat found to show the opposite.
But that still does not change the fact that Health Care is a public good. It should be the same as police and fire.

A Rasmussen Poll released yesterday –
    44% favor govt healthcare
    55% opposed
So I don’t know where the 65% comes from, probably the Obama poll.
U.S. Constitution states: “Promote the general welfare”. Nowhere does it state to pay for or provide. While it’s nice a argument the left is using as a common defense to justify govt takeover of healthcare and taxpayers funding it, it’s still not the function of the federal govt to undertake this type of socialism. This was not the intent of our Founding Fathers. It may be a moral feeling of obligation to provide healthcare, but it is certainly not a “right”.

Hold on there. What we are talking about here is not “a public good” and not the same as police or fire. This is massive entitlement program. Your analogy doesn’t work.
