I know for a fact that Fire Department dogs work until 11 or 12 years of age, some more and some less. 7 years is young for a service dog, so they shouldn’t put a cap on it. You can’t judge how many years anyone or anything has left. As long as the dog is certified and still actively working, a loss should be paid.
