The patent office needs to stop rubber stamping everything that comes across their desk. They have no concept of “prior art” which is often quite detailed. Patents also are often broadened and amended over time to include things they never originally contemplated.

The IP bonanza has been a gravy train for patent trolls (politely referred to as “Non-practicing entities”) — these exist only to sue actual productive businesses over imaginary IP “rights” aquired by investors/attorneys from some obscure and irrelevant company that went out of business.

The patent train has totally derailed. It needs to be substantially clipped.

The mere existence of PatentWize is proof positive.

Remember, Thomas Edison didn’t invent the light bulb or even the incandescent bulb- he merely patented it.
