Although Surplus Lines business is outside my area of expertise, I will say GOOD JOB to the state and industry representatives who can achieve a uniformity of regulations and standards without the need for a politicised Federal Govt to impose it and further justify its own bloated existance.
I think any national standardizing of insurance will actually Kaliforniaize America and make insurance less predictible and more expensive especially if Sen Dodd has a hand in it, look what he did to the home loan market.
For America to work properly the states need to compete (with each other) not collude to raise taxes which I think they did.
Just look at the other federalized “insurance” programs Medicare, Social Security, PBGC, FDIC, they’re all corrupt & bankrupt to the tune of over 111 trillion dollars, and that’s just what they’ve disclosed, the real numbers could be much higher.
