Gee, there’s a surprise. These folks had booze in them after a sporting event. This is why we have public transportation.

…it excludes fans not old enough to legally drink and it was limited to those who agreed to participate.

…Over 50% if we include those.

A non issue, at least 50% of people leaving bars and taverns are legally drunk but there doesn’t appear to be any move to address that, clearly that’s a much bigger issue.

xena, as to public transportation, that only applies to a few fans in a few cities, the rest of America gets in a car as the only way to get around.

Public transportation is only available in a few cities? Wow, I live in Chicago. Is public transportation that rare in the rest of the country? And believe me, the Cubs, Sox, Bears and Blackhawks have a lot more then just a few fans.

Hope they don’t consider nixing sales inside the stadium or ball park because that won’t work either. Look at Univ of Georgia. No sales between the hedges but Athens is wired before and after the game.
No matter what action is taken, booze is part of sports like assault is part of hockey. Get over it and get a Designated Driver.

question would be how many accidents have happened after the accident that was a result of a DWI? if so, why have we not focused on getting a checkpoint setup for that so we can now make it even longer to exit the stadium… so what can you do? put an inter-exit gate piece that allows only the driver to exit with a valid bac? i bet the cops could make a ton of money pulling folks over for a dui!! oooh! WOW, don’t you think the states could make up some money for their deficits or use it to pay those fire stations and emt stations. just a thought?!

This survey leaves out one obvious fact. The stadiums and franchise owners in all their greed, sell beers for $9 to $11 (which are actually 2 or more beers in one cup). This forces the drinker to drink far more than they would, and in order to keep the beer from getting warm, they drink it faster… hmmnn no wonder the drinkers are impaired. Maybe the stadiums could go back to selling a 12 oz beer for a reasonable cost (with some profit included).

I hope this study was funded with stimulus money.
