The winning team is more than often the home team, with home team fans. Visiting teams and fans have a longer way to travel after the game, and therefore are generally less apt to drink as heavily as the home team fans, knowing they will eventually need to traverse the roadway. Therefore, logic tells you the home team fans, which are generally the winning team fans, will have more uninhibited fans, ready to celebrate.
What do they say about accidents? A high percentage of accidents happen within 10 miles of home. I can see some of these bleary eyed fans running over someone on the way home from a game.

Perhaps the consumption of alcohol has something to do with it. Some of these people can hardly walk after a game, let alone drive.
