We continue to have parts of the country experiencing recurring floods, and other parts of the country experiencing terrible droughts. If we are still looking for meaningful projects to put people back to work, and we want to address both of these recurring long term problems, why don’t we build a nation wide network of levies and pipelines to move water from areas where is is not wanted to areas where it is desperately needed? Given the costs associated with both sets of disasters, and the potential to turn both flooded and arid land into land suitable for crops, the long term investment in infrastructure would make sense.
It wasn’t long ago they told us that global warming would result in drought all over the US. Hmmm.

You’re way too sensible :)
