in time of war, decisions have to be made to protect Americans, unfortunitly its unpleasant. If it were another country, they wouldn’t think twice about injuring our people.
Two Americans, both of whom served their country in the armed forces, are then imprisoned, denied the right to an attorney, denied the right to be heard in court and tortured by their own country. Their families are kept in the dark and refused all information on their wherabouts or condition. And to top it off, it’s abundantly clear that neither did anything wrong. No charges have ever been filed against them.
And you’re OK with this? You just want them to go away and be grateful they’re not still being tortured.
I’m guessing you might feel differently had this happened to you or a member of your family.
Realist: You’ve got to be one of the most naive people around. What makes you think Rumsfeld did anything for America. His ego let him do things only for himself.
War of any kind results in unpleasant and unfortunate things happen. Our enemies seek out and deliberately torture and maim men, women, and children and frequently kill them afterwards. The US does not do that. To suggest that Secretary Rumsfeld sat around joyfully and deliberately and personally encouraging torture is absurd. In times of war stuff happens.
Deprived of sleep? Blindfolded and walking into walls? I come from a family of six kids and lived in a neighborhood full of kids, and such shenanigans and “rough-housing” were a part of growing up. Doesn’t always make it right, but “torture”? Too bad enemies of the U.S.A. don’t use such “torture”, quite a few of our military personnel and civilians would still be alive. And I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t go to war over such treatment. However, anyone who condones such “torture” should, if found guilty, be severely punished – shoot ’em with a baked apple!
Good luck.
Thanks, Mr. Rumsfeld, for protecting and saving the lives of many Americans. History will be the judge.
