funny how democrats are so opposed to cutting any spending no matter what! I guess they think money just appears and there is no ramification for over printing money. They are all starting to look Greek to me. LOL….

It great to be compassionate but what if compassion comes in the form of rubber checks and in the same empty promises made to the flood victims in Cedar Rapids, IA. It is far better to first find some money to put into the bank account before starting to send checks.

Sarah, what you say is just not true. In the most recent budget battle, President Obama offered $4 in spending cuts for every $1 of tax increases and the Republicans refused. Obama caved in and the Republicans got what they wanted…all spending cuts.

Talk about intransigence, you criticize Democrats for being against spending cuts (when evidence is clearly otherwise), yet Republicans admittedly REFUSE to consider tax increases as part of the solution. Did you see the debate a few weeks ago in South Carolina? When asked if ANY of the candidates would accept a bill that called for $10 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax increases, not a single candidate said that they would agree to that measure.

Democrats seek a balanced approach, tax increases and spending cuts. Republicans think we can solve all our problems just by cutting spending. Democrats put country ahead of Party. Republicans can’t do anything without Grover Norquist’s permission.

Why do we give payments to people that did not purchase insurance to take care of this? I live in a town that had major flooding a few years ago. My basement walls caved in. FEMA came and wouldn’t give us a dime. I also tried SBA, SBA turned us down for a loan (we have great credit). Thank god I had flood insurance. It doesn’t pay for everything but at least it paid to have new basement walls put back in.
