If the jobs aren’t there to go to, why would anyone want to move? This job picture is not going to improve until we get a friendlier government in place that will actually encourage business to hire and expand.

If you mean by “friendlier government” getting rid of all the idiots in Congress blocking anything resembling a Presidential initiative on grounds that he’s the president, then I’m all for it.

Love Obama or hate him–when the congressional Republicans flat out tell him “we’ll block everything you try to do” they really become the problem, and not him.

The Democrat-controlled senate has been unanimously voting down all of the president’s budget proposals. You remember that state of the union address where he kept saying, “pass this bill?” Does anybody even remember what was in that proposal? It was so bad people wondered if he had deliberately put forward a crappy proposal just so he could run around accusing people of obstructing it. His tour promoting it actually got more press than the proposal itself.

Jon, you couldn’t be more right. The uber-upper class is doing better than ever. So, where are the jobs? We need to increase the velocity of money and increase demand, then you’ll see jobs.

Most larger companies are doing very well. Profits are good and balance sheet reflect high cash retentions. American productivity is at an all time high.

The fact is business in enjoying the increased productivity so much that they see little reason to expand their workforce.

What do you want government to do?

per Bloomberg today, corporate profits for the 3rd quarter are expected to be down 20-25% compared to last year…large companies like Fed Ex and Intel are cutting earnings estimates as a result.

The profitability picture is fading as consumers and corporations start to pinch pennies going into the election and pending fiscal cliff.

What should government do? Spend less. Tax less. Shrink drastically. Screen people at airports more rigorously who are more likely to be terrorists than grannies and nuns. And get their nose out of my life. That will do for starters.

You’ve missed the point that the job market sucks and very few businesses are doing much to help, although that is largely the fault of the US government overspending, over-taxing and over-regulating businesses, making US businesses less competitive in the world market. And don’t get me started on unions.

Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding! Why would they hire if they are producing enough to meet current demand?

What I was wondering about this morning is why does there seem to be a surplus of jobs for more experienced talent when people are not moving around?

Until Obama and his class warfare leave the white House you will not see many new jobs. Lets take a look at some of the things preventing job creation. Obamacare now there is a disincentive to hire due to the health insurance requirements and the lower definition of full time being over 30 hours. This will cause more hiring but less than 30 hours a week. Politically Obama loves it because it will cause less people unemployed but making alot less money. The class warfare against those making 250K a year are the small business owners of 50 or less employees. These guys do not know what their tax burden is going to be and are extremely scared that if they expand will the economy shrink and kill their business. Anyway, put Romey in the White House and things should improve at least on the job front! He can not do any worse than this guy has!

Sarah, something tells me you are part of the 47% Romney has admitted at his $150,000/plate dinner and later doubled down on the fact he isn’t working to help. No plastic smile and died-hairjob is going to gloss over those comments. Slowly, it appears this man is digging his political grave. Romney just doesn’t get it and America won’t be having any of that.

I’m struggling to decide whether Romney really believes these bizarre things he says or whether he is just saying them to please the Sarah’s.

The man doesn’t seem to stand for anything and is willing to say whatever he has to to get elected.

Actually, that doesn’t bother me all that much. It would just be nice to know what he ACTUALLY thinks, for him to lay out more specific economic proposals, and for him to draw a clear distinction between his economic policies and the failed economic policies that got us into this mess.

I’m glad this article speaks to Trust in Leadership. I loved my job when we had passionate leaders who cared deeply about the success of the organization they led. I’m starting to wonder if today’s generation of corporate leaders are parasites that care only about how much they can extract before they move on to the next unlucky “host”….
