It never ceases to amaze me when a company sets money aside for a settlement knowing what they are doing is wrong, and knowing one day they will have to pay. Clearly the ultimate profit made on this venture outweighs the cost of any suit. I can hear it in the room now. We can make 500 million over the next several years and it will only cost us 80 million. What about the bad press? Consumers are not very smart and this will be swept under the rug in no time. Consumers want drugs and we have what they want. Don’t worry, they are not going anywhere.

Instead of trying to help reduce this epidemic problem Walgreens chose to make it worse. This isn’t about people with legitimate needs for pain this is about drug problem this company made worse with their corporate greed.

Remember when Ford Motor Company got into trouble with their Explorer flipping over and many were killed and injured. Ford was blaming the Firestone tires and Firestone was blaming the narrow wheel base on the vehicle. It was a huge mess. Both companies ended up paying a lot out on claims.

Wow Walgreen’s. What are you doing? My wife uses them for her various prescription needs and they always have their act together. Perhaps this is primarily a Florida problem as the article indicated. I have a daughter who is a pharmacist and she works for Walmart/Sam’s and they abide by the stictest guidlines possible. She does have customers that try to get her to do things, but they are politely told they can’t do it and sends them on their way.

My good God.. you know how many people likely died as a result of that amount of ‘hillbilly heroin’ out on the street? The lives they helped to destroy, and the criminals they helped to empower.. and NO ONE GOES TO JAIL.

As long as the DEA get’s their cut, it’s fine.. just fine.. that is the way the US does it’s drug business..

If this had been your kid selling 10 oxy in the back alley (that he inevitably scored from Walgreens), depending on the state, she could be in jail for 5 to LIFE.
