This is one thing that the framers of the Constitution got wrong – bigtime. “Intellectual property” laws should be abandoned. Patents and copyrights are government-enforced monopolies, and as we know, anything that is subject to government control is a magnet for corruption and abuse. We do all know that, don’t we? Since the government created this problem in the first place, why should we trust it to now fix it with more regulation?
Contrary to what is fed to us in government schools, inventors and artists would not just sit and do nothing their entire lives if they couldn’t get an IP monopoly.
Gazillions of man-hours are wasted on this non-productive IP racket every year. It’s time to get rid of patents and copyrights and tell all those lawyers to get real jobs.
