how many times a day working with our computers do we have a “glitch” that requires human input to get things flowing again? unless I am unusual, not a day goes by that it doesn’t happen.
how will this work with a car filled with passengers on a busy roadway, when that little computer gremlin decides to come along?
I may be a doomsdayer, but I can see problems.

A household that needs two or more vehicles now will continue to need two or more vehicles — including the driverless variety. When my spouse and I head out to work, we go at only slightly different times and in two totally different directions. There isn’t time for a return trip home. The concept works for some, but not all, households.

I am an older person so it is hard to imagine all this new tech stuff. But I can see where car ownership could dwindle and more rental type situations could arise. Just call for a car to be sent to your home when you need it. Pay by the hour or mile. Maybe it will be rental car places that prosper or driverless taxis that prosper.
But I agree with Bob in that how will the passengers deal with the computer errors.
And will we need auto insurance in the future? If all this tech stuff works, there shouldn’t be any more crashes. And if there somehow is a crash, it would be the computer maker’s fault.

There will be a whole new industry of people rolling down the sides of empty driverless cars making right turns, claiming the cars clipped them. The cars’ cameras and prometrics will support the lawsuit. We’ll be getting texts from the cars – “Sorry, I am delayed. I clipped another person “standing” on the curb at an intersection.” Life and criminals find a way. Life and idiots abhor vacuums.
