Perhaps the writer should dig a little deeper on the subject – in 2014 the largest by share of insureds/premium written dropped out and was no longer a market to choose from. Now on 6/3/15 8 health insurers in the state are proposing double digit increases in rates some in excess of 50% – in addition another health insurer has pulled out of the market albeit one that had a smaller footprint in the state.

Always, speaking of Jonathon Gruber, did you see that there are a bunch of emails which have surfaced about Gruber’s intimate relationship with the White House and several aids. Remember Nancy saying – Jonathon who? Obama saying he was just an outside consultant with no real input to what was drafted in the law? Sorry, the emails will tell the whole sordid chapter. Townhall had the whole story with videos of Gruber saying the voters were stupid and the big lie about the exchanges and how they were going to force the states to put them in with the language of the law.

How could there be such a difference in just a few months?

Always, this article could have been written by Jonathon Gruber or by some minion at HHS. Every other article that has come out has premiums spiking by double digits and some areas by up to 65%. I don’t believe this article at all. It is just spin.

OMG!!! What a load of crap!

I think Josh Earnest wrote this thing and handed it to IJ.

Even if it were true, the fact that the govt is paying out ANYTHING proves that experience is worse than the initial rates were set at.

Also, did you catch the little ditty that EVERY enrollee paid an additional $63 to fund this reinsurance backstop! I don’t recall hearing that part of the law. I knew the rates were going up from an actuarial standpoint because of the increased exposure.

This reinsurance subsidy is going to go away. What then?? I think the journalist that wrote this piece is either a liberal or really does not know how insurance and ratemaking works. Maybe both!

Always, he might as well. Most of the rest of them already have. It will be interesting to see how they are weeded out in the coming year. One thing for sure, Trump has enough money to fund his campaign without being beholden to the special interests out there. He also will use straight talk instead of political talk. He is also a leader, one we haven’t had for a very long while. I would love to see him tear into Hillary on the stage. I really liked what he said about the border fence. He said he would demand Mexico build a fence or he would bankrupt them. He also won’t be letting China and Japan run all over us on trade like Obama and some Republicans would do.

And that wall idea – brilliant. The liberals will all be whining – the poor people who are coming into this country that need our help – wha wha wha – their criminals, rapists and drug cartels! That’s who’s coming into our country. Not to mention terrorists, too. Not all of course – but if you want to come to the USA do it legally! And I would LOVE to see him debate Hilarious – oops – I meant to say Hillary. I must have misspoken.

Love or hate Trump, but this country definitely needs someone to tell it like it is and do something about it. I am tired of mealy mouthed politicians who promise one thing and do another. Trump always does what he says he will do. That is the secret of his success. He recently bought the Doral resort in Miami and said he was going to completely change and renovate it and make it world class. He succeeded as he has with all his other properties. So what if he is rich! I like his ideas.

Rosenblatt, Trump has had some issues in the past, particularly during the financial meltdown which caused a lot of Real Estate people grief. He rose from the ashes and was smart enough to recover his fortune.

Obama, on the other hand is trying to bankrupt the country and has already presided on a downgrade of the country’s rating which is the first in history. A balanced budget would be a good start and telling Congress they shouldn’t be sending so many spending bills over only to be vetoed.

Agent, you say Trump had issues during the financial meltdown and he rose from the ashes and recovered his fortune. That statement is disingenuous.

            1) Trump had to file for bankruptcy twice, IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS NO LESS, back in 1991 and 1992. The recession ended March 1991, meaning he had to re-file for bankruptcy at least once after said ‘financial meltdown.’

            2) He ‘rose from the ashes’ only to file for bankruptcy again in 2004 AND in 2009.

Someone filing for bankruptcy 4 times in less than 20 years does not strike me as a fiscal conservative the Republican’s normally advocate for.

Once again, I ask: Do you really think it’s wise that we put someone into the office of President who has had to file for bankruptcy on four separate occasions?

Hey Always, I saw an article on GOP USA that was pitting the tax plans of Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Paul’s plan would scrap the tax code, call for elimination of payroll taxes on workers and several other taxes including those on gifts, estates, telephone service and duties and tariffs. Also included elimination of corporate tax subsidies, personal tax deductions except for mortgage interest and charitable deductions. The first $50,000 of income for a family of four would not be taxed and the marginal rate would be 14.5% on individuals and businesses. It is more or less a flat tax. The economy would actually be stimulated creating more jobs and more taxpayers. What a novel idea!

Rubio’s plan would have two rates, 15% for those individuals making less than $75,000 or families earning under $150,000 and 35% for those making over that. I am sure the revisions to both campaigns will flesh out as they get closer to debate time. Of course, cuts in spending have to go along with any tax plan in order to balance the budget, something that RINO’s and Progressive Democrats abhor.

The IRS could be eliminated if a Flat Tax were implemented. Tax payments could be sent electronically from your bank directly to the US Treasury. A new unit could be formed in the US Treasury to accept simplified tax returns electronically and account for the tax payments. A few accountants from the IRS could handle whatever ‘complications’ may arise.

Obamacare is already in a death spiral. This entire debacle is being held together by 21 different taxes, the risk corridor and 31 unilateral executive actions and delays. When SOTUS rules at the end of this month the subsidies are null and void it’s over. SOTUS will throw it back to Congress to fix it with a short term bandage but that will not stop the hemorrhaging.

Agent, the entire ACA is a tremendous waste of billions of taxpayer dollars. It does not work and will never work. Obama said at the G-7 summit a few weeks ago the ACA “never intended” to block those on the federal exchanges e.g. the 34 states that opted not to establish their own exchange from obtaining the subsidies yet the IRS was directed to fund these exchanges in violation of the ACA mandate. He needs to read the law he signed which clearly states “established by the state.” These subsidies are the very reason SOTUS will hand down decision this month in the King v. Burwell case.

IIRC, it was a Canadian firm, (CGI?), and it was only $87M wasted. But considering the aggravation to potential insurance purchasers, it was a boondoggle. But, to borrow from the the old saying by Everett Dirksen; “$87M here and $87M there, pretty soon it adds up to significant money”.

Yogi, I recommend that you Google Cost of Healthcare.gov to see how much this travesty has cost the taxpayers. Several articles on the subject and most put the cost at between 1 and 2 billion counting all the extra contracts added to fix it. It is still not fixed, by the way.

I read these articles daily on IJ and it doesn’t matter if we are talking about this topic or climate change… this publication is definitely written to provide one side of the story and they should be ashamed of themselves. There is no way that the ACA wont fail…. it was designed to fail so that a single payer system is the only answer, which is not sustainable either. It is time to wake up and demand that we are informed on both sides of the argument and let people make informed decisions on the facts, not spin. the dumbing down needs to stop now!

And then, the POTUS goes and uses the N-word in an interview…as if he hadn’t already weakened the WH and the office of the POTUS. This man is a disgrace AND a race baiter. Nothing more.

Agent, I saw your remarks regarding Walker in another post. According to the local news he is going to make his decision the week of July 13th. He was in Colorado at a speaking engagement when he made that comment. My best guess – he is testing the waters.

He has been speaking out against the Sup Ct on the gay marriage decision He is neither for against the issue but against the Sup Ct infringing on states rights. He seems to be the right mix of politician and business man.

Well FFA, I like Walker, but he needs to get with the program and soon. I think many who have announced will drop away within 6 months and it will narrow down to survival of the fittest. I am not sure who would want that job with the nation in the biggest mess possible by actions of Obama and minions. He or whoever it ends up being have a very tough row to hoe in the near future. It will take real leadership. I really like Carly Fiorina. She said she would reverse every executive order Obama has done as quickly as she could sign her name.
