When I was a kid, I thought we would have flying cars, and hover boards. My Sci-Fi youth was filled with such wonder. Sometimes there was a robot at the controls… but there was usually always someone at the control (even if it was an android). The sensation of driverless cars and remote control drones are not things I dreamt of as a kid. I want to be in control of my flying car. I do not want my car in control of me. The car was an invention that truly transformed the world. This transformation was more about personal freedom than it was about mobility. Sure we all look at the driverless car Phenom and say, “wow how cool.” However, I suspect that when given the choice to buy one, I would rather stay in control. Driving is fun, and provides personal freedom. American’s lover our freedom, even if the symbol of that freedom is odd (like a steering wheel). Giving up the steering wheel is akin to giving up freedom. At least symbolically.
I completely agree. Who is pushing this driverless car issue? I have not seen one opinion poll that backs up the claim that people WANT this technology…not one!! You sir, have restored my faith in Humanity. Long live the freedom of the open road!!!!
Very much agree that as long as I am capable, I have no interest in a driverless vehicle. I simply enjoy driving. However, I can see a great use for this technology when I am no longer able to drive and still need to get around. My vision of the future is some combination of human drivers and self-driving cars, as long as the self-driving technology can prove immune to hackers. Until the security of the devices is above reproach, we should not allow them on the roads.
How will it pick a gas station, and when? If the gas station robot lowers it price by 1 penny, do all the mindless cars line up at that station?
I would like to watch a traffic jam at an exit to see how they merge. Will the other cars be nice and let cars in, or will they be rude?

you can now cower in the corner with your tin foil hat screaming the sky is falling and being the stereotypical angry old-man hypocritical crack-pot that we all know you are.
Confused, you and your fellow trolls have accused me of having no humor, can’t take a Progressive joke and then when I try to have a little fun with your limited brain, you attack me in a heart beat. Everyone knows your personality now and are glad they don’t work with you or live next door to you.

When will the self driving cars become “self aware” and decide to just take off or to deliberately crash killing the owner.
