Good point. Just like gun free zones, the only people that will fly in the no-fly zones are the bad guys. And just like the bad guys on no gun zones, the app will tell them the best places to wreck their havoc. If I’m a bad guy and I find myself in an OK fly zone, why would I launch my drone here? Let me see if the app can point out a dangerous place to fly and I’ll go there. This can become a useful tool for the terrorists. Shows them the most dangerous places to fly.
Dave, do you think the FAA will scrutinize applications more carefully for Muslims who want to fly drones? My guess is it will be a lot like the easy to get Visas for Muslims.
via mind-meld with agent: his answer is yes – all terrorists should be scrutinized when acquiring a gun, and all muslims are terrorists

Tried the app. Looks like everywhere is a no fly zone. I work in downtown Chicago. There’s no airport within several miles of here. But it’s a no fly zone.
The app needs to be redone to make it easier for people to locate the two or three places in the country where playing with toys is permitted. If I travel to a location where flying is permitted, I won’t be allowed to fly there either due to the crowd of others trying to play with their toys.
I’m old enough to remember when the FCC actually licensed and issued “pink slips” (citations) to CB operators. The number of CB users quickly overloaded the resources of the FCC. Now the FCC has devolved to selling frequency bandwidth to the richest buyers. How long will it be before we must pay the FAA for the air that we breath?
It kinda works like those gun free zones.
Lean forward America

Agent,
Should Muslim Americans be more scrutinized when acquiring a gun?

That way the drones can be shot out of the air! Problem solved!
