Anyone who depends on an electronic device to stop a car in time are rolling the dice. Some of these cars can’t tell the difference between a tractor/trailer and a fence post.
But I assume you are okay with being on an airplane that flies on auto pilot pretty much from the time it taxis to the runway and lands. Subject to weather or emergencies, pilots typically control the plane only when it is on the ground. Which is pretty much how the self driving car will be implemented. In either case the pilot/driver still must pay attention!
