Republicans only know how to “lead” from behind. When given actual power, they continually fumble. Sometimes the ball gets jostled around, kicked, and jostled until it haphazardly falls over the goal line, but typically, it is scooped up by the other party, which then is forced to slowly drag the ball back the other way while Republicans hang on, saying all along the way, “We have a plan, trust us, America!”

People trusted you, for some reason. What they got or will get from the GOP is:

-A reduction in the quality of their healthcare
-Less oversight to deal with environmental pollution
-Austerity which results in increased societal danger, reduction in public services, and a reduction in quality of life.
-Latching onto the past (unprofitable coal, while shunning green energy to be on par with the global economic climate, being just one thing)

These aren’t scare tactics, it isn’t fearmongering, and it certainly isn’t a lie. These are stated goals and demonstrable effects of the Republican way to “lead.” Apparently making America great again involves cutting its nose off to spite its face.

Doug Fisher, I could not have said it better. I have always believed in hard work and personal responsibility and accountability. But the Republican idea of healthcare is mean spirited, every man/woman/child for himself and may God have mercy on you(that is the only mercy you will receive).

Who messed the bed for Republicans to clean up? Who said IF you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor? Who said IF you like your plan, you can keep your plan? Who said there will be $2500 of premium savings per year? Who said we have to pass it to see what’s in it? Who has been saying where is the Republicans plan after 6 (some use 7) years of saying they said they had a plan? Who controlled the WH Veto Vote for 8 years, 6 of which were years in which ACA was ‘law’?

Once again, Celtica, you are “fact challenged”! Have you checked lately how many of Trumps’ nominees have been approved by the Dem’s, compared to the same time period that Obama was in office.

Sorry to hear that FFA. I hope you can get your mother close to you to take care of her. By the way, saw Tucker Carlson interviewing one of the young brainwashed women from the religion of peace and she is fearful of the white supremacists shooting people in Chicago. She gave the black gangs a complete pass who have been doing the shootings. What a cesspool of violence they have going on up there. What a warped view of the world some people have. By the way, as hard as Tucker tried, he couldn’t get an intelligent reply out of her and she had memorized her stock answer for everything.

It’s too bad Obama and the Democrats didn’t take the time worry about whether Obamacare would fail or not before passing it. If they did (and used obvious logic and didn’t lie) the Republicans wouldn’t have to be cleaning up the MESS they made!!

It’s terribly difficult to walk back the entitlements doled out by Obamacare.

Fess up, Libs, and try to admit that Obamacare is a BUST!

No one on the Progressive side has a plan (i.e. clue) as to how to ‘fix’ ACA. Perhaps the reason is that they are clueless? If not that, then they must think others must fix things they broke. Regardless, by repeatedly calling for Republicans to fix the mess caused by ACA THEY crafted and approved, they are obfuscating the fact THEY (Progressives) are 100% responsible for the mess created by ACA. Finally, Socialists haven’t yet figured out why they’ve lost THOUSANDS of legislative seats across the USA over the years since ACA was passed (after we could found out what’s in it).

      A) Not one progressive is calling on any Republican to “fix” the ACA. Name one. Please, by all means.
      B) Progressives caused absolutely zero of these messes. If states led by Republican governors and legislatures didn’t decline increased federal Medicaid funding, rates wouldn’t skyrocket. You can look at the states who accepted the funding and continued to support the law who also experienced lower premium increases than the nationwide open-market. States got in the way to block the law, and then raved when it failed in their state. Go figure that Republicans cut off their nose to spite their face.
      C) Raising taxes and making things more fair is never a popular position to support. It takes the strong and intelligent to see the benefits for society and their fellow man in having a reduction in their take-home pay via increased taxes. Taxes are too low today. They are literally untenable to support all the red states sucking away at the economy. So what we will get is austerity, instead. And with that, increased crime, fewer parks and recreation facilities, crumbling communities (once again, the Red ones where nobody lives will be hit the hardest), etc.

      D) We are still waiting on all that proof you promised about opioids, marijuana, climate change, etc, etc. You are a fraud, plain and simple.

Fyi – this is a liberal site based out of SF.

        B) HAHAHA – Nice deflection. The “effect” of the intelligent Republican states was CAUSED by the passing of Obamacare. Those states saw the handwriting on the wall and did not want to be left with the burden of paying for it.

        C) How do you define fair and what criteria do you use? Is it fair that there are millions of people who CHOOSE to live off the govt. Yes, I said choose. There are generations of people that manipulate the system to bleed it for whatever they can. They are too lazy to get a real job. Yes, there are millions who NEED assistance and are trying to help themselves. I advocate to help those people. Fix the fraud and waste first, then talk to me about raising taxes.

        D) Yes, we will have to wait until it is finalized before we can start critiquing it.

I must say DF, you must have drank too much of their KoolAid, and apparently still do. They continue to make up lies and excuses and you believe them.

        DF –

One more thing to dispute your “spin”.

You said – “You can look at the states who accepted the funding and continued to support the law who also experienced lower premium increases than the nationwide open-market.”

Is that your idea of success? Having a lower premium INCREASE? Did you ever think that the premiums in the Exchange states might already be higher than the non-Exchange states and that is why the premium INCREASE was lower? What’s the percentage of states doing well (lower costs and more choice) with Obamacare exchanges compared to non-exchange states? How many carriers are still available?

Figures lie and liars figure. Your democratic “friends” are trying to spin a lower premium INCREASE, when the cost is already too high and unaffordable.

Don’t be a sheep. Think for yourself and apply common sense.

While I have been against the PPACA since day 1, I cannot help but wonder how the health care/insurance situation would be today if the Republicans had spent half of the time they spent on futilely trying to repeal the law on trying to work with President Obama and the Democrats trying to fix it, we may actually have a working system.

Yes, this mess was created by President Obama and the Democrats, but at least they have been acknowledging the need for fixes for some time now.

The Republicans could do that, but it would go against their campaign promises and actually indicate an interest in governing for all the people, not just their base. Can’t have that now, can we?

        Agreed.

This is why we need term limits. One 4-year term for Representatives and one 6-year term for Senators. Someone may serve a term in each house. No more career politicians who care more about keeping their jobs than doing the people’s work. And no pension or any other benefit when you are done.

Bonus effect of term limits: they’d govern instead of lobbying for reelection in the final year(s??) of their term!

While we’re at it, let’s have our elected officials abide by the same rules and regulations as their constituents. If we have to have the ACA or ACHA or whatever healthcare coverage is called, they should be required to have the same coverage!

There are other solution steps in ‘HEALTH CARE SPPECIFICCS’ that can be implemented in subsequent bills or actions taken by the stakeholders in the Health Care and Health Insurance industries.

Meanwhile Dems are still interfering / obstructing while CITIZENS who can no longer afford HI are losing coverage under ACA rules and the 100% correlated death spiral we are experiencing firsthand as witnesses to the historical changes that will soon occur – – – in the free market.

My understanding is that the Republican’s have not allowed the Dem’s to participate in the process of drafting or amending the legislation.
