Another flood risk reduction product is offered by PortaDam and comes in a 5′ and 7′ high model. It has been used in industrial/commercial applications and employs a networked frame system and covering that provides 100% coverage instead of 75% (as mentioned in the article for AquaDam). It requires no water, no payloader, no sand; just 2 people to set up.

Why wouldn’t insurance companies pay or subsidize something like this for all policy holders? Let’s say, I buy it up front and don’t use it for years. The ins co pays nothing until it protects against a flood. Then because I just saved the ins co 10’s of thousands of dollars by avoiding a claim they reimburse me for the cost of the aqua dam. If it fails, they pay for the claim anyway and I’m out the cost of the aqua dam. By ins co I really mean federal govt, this should be tied to flood ins. You should still pay for your premium based of flood zones. Sounds fair to me!
