“The conservative House Freedom Caucus is pushing Ryan to try to force Democrats to accept higher military funding without any increase in domestic funding.” Why are we increasing any spending while reducing our revenues?

Kim Jong UNderpants, Iran, Syria, and…. we’re NOT reducing revenues. GDP growth will accelerate as soon as the Tax Reform Act of 2017 is passed.

“GDP growth will accelerate as soon as the Tax Reform Act of 2017 is passed.” Of course it will accelerate GDP. The question is, will it by enough to reduce the debt? Nearly all economists say no. However, I am willing to withhold judgement until 11/3/2020.

So now that Obama is gone, there is concern about overspending and debt increase? But it was okay to add over $10 trillion to our debt the past 8 years?

            Jack Kanauph,

No, it was not OK. If you recall, I have been advocating for a reduction spending and taxes since I started commenting on IJ ~8 years ago.

However, I noticed many who were complaining about spending and the debt are now silent on the subject. It goes both ways.

@Ron; the key difference is that TrumPresident will increase GDP to more than offset any deficits. Look at GDP growth under BHO…. nothing over 3.0% growth…. for more than 1 qtr.

I did not project anything. I actually agreed with you that the tax bills under consideration will lead to increased GDP grwoth.

How about you provide substantial proof that GDP growth will be sufficient to reduce the current debt. Please show all of your work.

Proof? Watch the stock markets react after the Tax reform Bill of 2017 is passed. Until then, no one can prove anything.

If you understand stock market movements, you must agree it reflects the collective intelligence of billions of investors worldwide.

            Also;
Kennedy’s Tax Cuts via ‘Lock Box’ Johnson in 1964.
Reagan via Tax Reform Act of 1986 (‘TRA-86’).

Furthermore: currently, 3 consecutive qtrs of GDP growth exceeded 3%. With extra impetus from the Tax Reform Act of 2017, GDP growth will be larger than current growth levels.

To believe Obama’s repeated lie that economic conditions have changed and greater than 3% growth isn’t possible is to believe a proven liar. If you like your less than 3% GDP growth, you can keep your less than 3% GDP growth…. by moving to Venezuela, Cuba, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Brazil, …

The stop-gap measures will NOT shore up ACA insurance markets. Those will be torn down by removal of the subsidies, once and for all ending the Death Spiral. The TRA-17 will most likely remove the mandate. Or, Congress will heed my suggestion to REDUCE the size of the tax penalty to a trivial level; e.g. $10 per year.

Paul Gosar is correct that RINO House Leader Paul ‘RyanO’ Ryan will again sabotage efforts by responsible Conservative Republicans and make concessions to Democrats to avoid a potential stalemate. While they must push across the finish line the Tax Reform Act of 2017 (now called TRA-17 on ‘icebergs’ which I inhabit), they don’t need to give anything to Dems if they stand united for the good of the US.

If Chucky Schmucky Schumer and the Dems were TRULY “working in good faith…” they wouldn’t have pulled their cowardly stunt of bailing out of their meeting on the budget with Trump last week. Schumer’s comment on blaming the threat of a shut-down on Trump is also contrived for political leverage. Fortunately, for US citizens, the Dems don’t have much leverage, as we’ll soon see regarding the Tax Reform Act of 2017.

The greatest concern is whether Paul “Ryano” will honor his word to Conservative Republicans regarding the change to defense spending, and removal of DACA and ACA issues from the two-week stop gap. I suspect he will change some minor things, but will be forced to do so.

Both houses of congress should all be fired for failure to do their job. They all full well know that a budget is do but yet they continue to pass short term bills to limp the government along until they can get off their dead behinds and do the job they were sent to Washington to do. Somehow I doubt that any of our employers would tolerate this level of incompetence.

Vote all of them out!! Two terms and done.

No, they shouldn’t ALL be fired. Only those resisting the Will of The People. Term limits is a lazy, copycat approach to the more valid approach of educating voters to elect the most capable candidate.

Only Dems are advocating for a blanket purge of ALL Congressmen, as a means to turn public sentiment against those in control. Only the RINOs are causing the inertia. Think it through and reply as to how ‘term limits’ prevents electing equally bad replacement politicians. Ready, steady, … GO!

Millions of illegal votes, and millions of suppressed votes in solid blue states… yields more than the un-published number you continually refer to in disregard to the rules ALL candidates played by. NEWS MEDIA OUTLETS ALL counted the Electoral College votes won, and not the NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE.

The EC System works to ensure the politicians can’t perpetuate transfer of wealth from the minority to the majority. The popular vote works well in states, which self-govern, and towns, which self-govern. US citizens who disagree with the governors in their towns and states can move to towns and states where their Will is followed. They CANNOT easily / readily move to another nation, and should not be forced to do so to escape oppressive town or state government.

In fact, US citizens frequently migrate to low tax / no tax states like FL and NH and NC.

@Ron; wealth among the richest grew more under Obama than in the past, so why worry about that now? We can’t take the money from them that they’ve earned. Oh, wait! Dems think they can do just that… but they don’t control Congress or the White House. They’ll just have to wait until they do to rob from the rich.

“wealth among the richest grew more under Obama than in the past, so why worry about that now?” Yet, you and our president think we should reduce their taxes even more while providing a token tax reduction to the middle class. So when does that wealth begin to trickle down?

Tax Reform Act 2017 bill’s reconciled version is coming up for a vote later this week!

      http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-gop-tax-plan-20171213-story.html

21, 37 are the key compromise numbers; business tax rate and top tier personal tax rate. That looks like it will fly, as a starting point to be amended later when RINO’s see the impact on consumer confidence and other related indices, as well as GDP growth above 3% on a continuous basis.
