This is great news. We have been at the mercy of drug companies and pharmacies for way too long. Amazon has a proven record of knowing how to negotiate pricing, so I’m hoping they go far and wide with this venture.

I’m with you, Lauren — this can only help drive down medicine prices for the average consumer, especially since “PillPack already has mail-order pharmacy licenses in all 50 U.S. states” and “has relationships with most major drug-benefit managers” and as “it also works with most Medicare Part D drug plans.” This is just one step towards more affordable health care. Up next? Man, I really wish it’s consistent and transparent pricing for medical services rendered, but I doubt that’s going to happen for many many MANY years.

The increased competition created by the added capital PillPack will have points to the benefits of competition in both the medical care / product industry and health insurance industry. It is the opposite of the ACA, MediCare for All, and Single Payer Health Care that ACA was intended to lead to through an intentional sabotage of the private HI market.

Watch other providers to follow suit and offer mail delivery meds. But many other things must be done to provide direct medical care, as pills are not a panacea.
