During my undergraduate days at an all-women’s college, 40+ years ago, a very young male teacher came across in the classroom as if he thought he was Hot Stuff, and we all thought he believed he had found a pool of potential dates. We also thought he was a joke, and to my knowledge he never approached anyone. Years later, we found out he was gay, so… guess he was just weird.

Ladies, you can slap an offender or report him immediately. You can also make it plain that you aren’t interested. If a man continues then he is probably going to rape you or something. So many of these stories of long ago sexual encounters (especially in Hollywood) were tolerated because some girl wanted to be famous or may have even enjoyed the attention. Trying saying NO!
By the way, I’m female, so no comments about my not being sympathetic enough.

Perplexed: Is that what boys who were abused by priests supposed to have done – should they have just said no? You make it sound so simple. It’s not. It’s an extremely complicated issue with people playing mind games against others.

MadDog I think priests abusing anyone should have been prosecuted by law enforcement instead of the catholic church being allowed to cover it up, relocate so the perverts could continue abusing, etc. It’s women that are crying foul years after sexual encounters that I’m referring to.
I agree kids aren’t normally equipped to defend themselves against adults that prey on them. it’s not the same thing in my mind.

Big difference: priest sexual abuse generally targeted children. College professors? not so much. These women are well over 18 …..
