They only record 2 hours of sound? With the vast improvements in technology over the years, you’d think being able to record 24 hours would be easy to achieve. Also, why are they even using black boxes that need to be physically recovered anymore? Many planes have WiFi on board — the recordings should be auto-saved to a secure location at frequent intervals.

I agree completely Rosen. We have (or could have) plenty of satellite coverage to enable transmission capture. Another thing, if we had off-plane signal capture, it would certainly help to locate the missing craft where box recovery isn’t possible. (i.e. Malaysia flight, etc). Or at least, give a better picture of what may have occurred.
