Rob & Rosey, good ones!
I love the idea of a self driving car, but I won’t participate until I can be comfortable with how there cars will react in inevitable collision situations. There are also many problems with these cars recognizing people walking that scare me. A normal, non-impaired human being is still a better driver than a computer.
When I’m old and cranky, people in self-driving cars will be afraid of me. I’ll be driving around in an old Ford pick-up (say a white ’65 Custom Cab with with a 352 and granny gear 4-speed) with whatever dog I have at the time riding shotgun, and when I see a self-driving car I’ll take a good hard swerve at it just to see it go into crash-avoidance mode and scare the ever-living bejeezus out of its passenger(s).
They say having a hobby in retirement helps keep you young.
I’m in favor of the driverless cars. It could benefit the older drivers whose sight and reflex is not as sharp as it once was. Also for handicap people to help them get around. I can see the need for this type transportation.
I’m not afraid of self-driving cars. You know what I AM afraid of? Bears. Bears in self-driving cars. Absolutely terrifies me.
“I pay the Homer Tax. Let the Bears pay the Bear Tax!”
