“To observe Women’s History Month, the National Safety Council encourages employers to examine historical safety trends involving women in the workplace so that safety measures are aptly addressed for those most vulnerable.”
Thank God for Women’s History Month or the question might never be asked: who is committing all of these assaults on women and why doesn’t the article address that question? The implication is that those evil men are doing it, but I have my doubts. Especially because that is such a critical question for “employers to examine historical safety trends involving women . . .”
It would be typical of today’s media to leave out the fact that the majority of assaults by women are committed by other women if that were actually true, and I can’t believe that the collection of statistics on assaults that found a higher number of women being assaulted didn’t also bother to ask questions about the people doing the assaulting.
Craig, I think women on women are responsible for many of the problems. Women don’t get along as well as men do. They are jealous of one another and god forbid one woman getting a promotion while another was passed over because she thought she would get it.
I agree that it would be helpful for the article to go into more depth on the source and nature of the assaults (e.g. patient/caregiver, student/teacher, colleague/colleague), what they attribute to the sharp increase, etc. I am confused by the defensive tone of the commenters, though. Why do you assume the author is implying that “men” are to blame as a blanket cause? I didn’t interpret that from this article. And Agent’s comments are comically sexist.
There could be interesting dialogue about an issue like this, but comments like these really discourage that.
I will answer your question: the overwhelming majority of Americans no longer trust the news media, and usually because the political leanings of the reporter usually influence what is left in or out of the story.
The number of people who trust the press to tell the truth is at an all time low.
And so when you see a story about one of the members of the Left’s Preferred Victims Club (you know, women, minorities or LGBTQ), then you get suspicious right out of the gate.
And when a story citing statistics on violence towards women gives NO reasons at all that women are assaulted more than men, you have to wonder if the reporter’s politics are at play or if the study REALLY didn’t have any statistics on the people committing the assaults.
If you aren’t distrustful of the media today, then you aren’t paying attention. A recent poll indicated that even a majority of Democrats believe the media makes up negative stories about Trump, for example. Imagine that.

Agent, are your remarks based on extensive analysis of Apartment 3G and Brenda Starr?

Good post Craig. I have a feeling you will be downvoted heavily for having common sense and knowing right from wrong.
My post got deleted? Wonder who I upset. Let me try asking again.
Craig, you said “A recent poll indicated that even a majority of Democrats believe the media makes up negative stories about Trump”
I have not heard of such a poll. Can you please provide a link to a source that supports your argument?
Do you have a source on your “recent poll [that] indicated that even a majority of Democrats believe the media makes up negative stories about Trump”?
I guess you’re right Craig – your posts do get deleted more often than mine
