Insurers of automated vehicle makers, medi- or recre- pot producers, etc. should heed the warning of this lawsuit. The long-term issues that may arise with long-term use of the product isn’t clearly/ perfectly understood as regards the potential for latent health injuries or auto accidents with non-AI vehicles, pedestrians, or non-descript items (e.g. portable/ movable traffic barriers) .

Asbestos was widely used as insulation in home for decades, and the manufacturers were insured by insurers that did not (could not?) know the potential health risks. Lead in plumbing and fishing sinkers is another such risk tied to the element that insurers did not have the foresight to avoid, limit, or mitigate.

All insurers need a forward thinking, open-minded ERM team.
